From Our Family Farm to You!

Our Story

Reese Farms, started about 1979 by Hudson and Pat Reese with their sons, Jay and Don. Its beginnings were humble, a tent in their front yard with an honor box letting customers purchase the Halifax County cantaloupes they grew. A decade later, the business grew into a permanent stand and added more of the Reese’s locally grown fresh produce along with Pat’s Old fashioned Pickles, Preserves, & Jellies made by Pat Reese.  Pat used original family recipes, passed down through the generations and are still used in the business, made the same, with no mass production.

About 25 years ago, Don’s wife Sara, joined the business and helped build the family retail operation with the addition of a greenhouse, with bedding plants to sell.  The family then added strawberries, sweet corn, watermelons, pumpkins, fresh cut Christmas trees, handmade wreaths, and gift baskets to our selection of goods.

In 2003, Don & Sara added a seasonal, second open air market in the nearby town of South Boston. 

Don & Sara are joined in operation of their  family business by their three children: Will, Kent & Sara Beth.
